WEEKLY UPDATE! (February 1, 2015)

A late update due to Internet problems
but better late than never, right? O.O

* GARRISON BEAR PRODUCTION IS FINISHED!!! XD

Just go to the link and comment about it on YouTube! Took me 5-6 months to do that thing and I won't be starting right away with the next(Survey Corps Bear). I need a breather because I got really big ideas for Survey Corps Bear and I need time to think of the best ideas that would be awesome but not give too much work for my gear(a laptop that crashes a lot)....O.O

Anyways!

* I also resumed the production of The Battle.

I blogged about this a year ago(Click here to see those Blogs)
and I'm still going to make use of the progress I had last time like the concept arts.

I remodeled the You character and didn't follow his looks that I did on the concept art.

I also started modeling the Monster character but I still have to make changes.

And although I started production again, I might not be able to finish it right away since I want to do it as perfect as it can be and also I'm gonna try creating an original music score for it.

So yeah. I'll work on The Battle bit by bit throughout the year. :)

* IT'S TIME TO OPEN THE BUSINESS!!!

That's right! I will be opening this business up:

You can read more about it here:

I just want to point out one thing though:

IT'S ONLY AVAILABLE IN GENERAL SANTOS CITY!

Why?
Because I still have to study how to make long distance transactions and it's just a small business so I won't expand...yet.

Just go to the link above to know more about the services available. :)

* Also, if I don't get any clients next week, I'll be pausing the production for The Battle for a while to create a new Original music video for Valentines day!

Like this one:

I'm gonna make it an official Doodle Notes tradition to create
Music videos about love every February! XD

So yeah! I will record another one of my original composition and make a music video out of it.

I'm also going to include in the tradition that the music videos would be in stop-motion animation but not always a lyric video. Hehe.

* Also! I'll try doing the animation request by TheEvilSugar on my recreation of Baymax:

I'll try to grant the request this month! XD

SO YEAH!

That is all there is!

My name is MJ Vilches of Doodle Notes.

Bringing forth awesomeness to glorify the Awesome!

Over and out.

SUPER UPDATE! (April 27, 2014)

Having some issues? Not good.

I've got a lot of personal issues that needs to be dealt with. O.o

UPDATES!

* The Battle, which I've been working hard on since January, will have to be postponed for a very long time.

AND NOW IT'S TIME FOR EXCUSES!

    • Excuse # 1 - The Battle, a 3D Animated short that I've been working on since the start of the year, requires a lot of time to complete. Since there's  only one of me to do all the required tasks of creating a full digital world, it might take me one year to finish the whole thing. To elaborate more, I need to do every job involved in the different stages of the project, which are:
      • Development Stage - I need to develop the main idea of the whole thing and create a proper script.
      • Pre-Production Stage - I need to prepare all the materials I'll be needing for production. (Character Models Fully-Rigged, Stage/World of the story, etc.)
      • Production Stage - Shoot the whole thing by setting up a virtual world on my laptop and using a virtual camera(on Blender) I have to capture the characters which I have to animate first.
      • Post-Production Stage - I'll have to piece together the whole thing as a final video, which requires me to apply appropriate sequencing of scenes and apply additional visual effects, sound effects and music.
    • Excuse # 1.2 (Development Stage) - The main idea of The Battle is too important that I need to think it through properly before sealing it. That's why I need more time to study my script before deciding that it's final. I don't want to create an ineffective story for the idea that I want to show the people. It's going to be God's Words that I'll be portraying on the short that I need properly understand it. I don't want to create another of those videos that misinterprets His Words so I have to hold the production for now.
    • Excuse # 1.3 (Pre-Production Stage) - There are NINE characters in The Battle that I need to model and rig. I only finished one after 2 weeks and I still need to do 8 more. And each character becomes more elaborate, so finishing them all might just consume the 1 year chance that my parents gave me to become a success as a YouTube Partner before they force me into another "collegiate journey." So yeah, I NEED A TEAM OF MODELERS AND RIGGERS to finish on time.
    • Excuse # 1.4 (Production Stage) - Same as modeling and rigging, animation requires a lot of time. And even if, it's only a 4-5 minutes short, it's not going to be easy. (Heck it even took me 3 weeks to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrd4EGM084E) So I am not confident that I'd be able to do it in 1 month, given the fact that the script is not final yet and the characters not ready. I already spent 5 months of my 1 year chance and I only created 3 videos! And I'm already seeing some small digits on my revenue as a YouTube Partner! So I have to postpone The Battle.
    • Excuse # 1.5 (Post-Production) - The Battle involves extensive amount of vfx. And a lot of rendering. My laptop (Neo Basic B5700 N, Intel Core i7 2630QM, RAM: 2GB ) cannot handle all of them. I have to develop different techniques to make it a bit lighter for my laptop but add more production time, which is not good for my 1 year chance. My laptop is already crashing so much and I'm praying that it's not gonna give up on me within this 1 year.

    • Excuse # 2 - I HAVE A VERY BIG PERSONAL ISSUE! I've been starting a lot of projects already that I'm having hard time finishing them all! So I decided to finish one of the biggest project that started it all. I'll need another post to explain it all but here's a photo for now:
The next BIG THING!

And THAT's IT!

Excuses excuses! HAHA!

But don't worry!

The upcoming projects will be more than my excuses. The Battle will still be continued in the future.

For now...

I can't just do this on a whim!

I've done some tests for the short, The Battle, and I've encountered a lot of issues that I should take into account before pursuing the project.

I already finished establishing the story and the characters and also created concept arts for everything.

CHARACTERS

STAGE

Basing on the concept arts, I modeled and rigged two of the main characters in a free and open-source 3D animation suite called, Blender and test-animated them.

I actually modeled the characters in 2D since I planned on having the camera to only move in one spot, not changing it's angle, and just track on the characters.

As you can see, it turned out awesome but when I test animated the YOU character holding his weapons and attack with it, I encountered some issues.

It looks a bit fine but the issue is...

Notice the arm, rotating in an awkward way? It's because I modeled the character in 2D which means the characters are only 2D planes and not in 3D objects. Since the camera stays on one angle, I didn't bother to model them completely in 3D. But after this test, I find that my resolve is not really as awesome as I expected. Because of the inverse kinematics modifier that I added on the rig, it's difficult to fix the issue.

So I decided to re-model the characters and this time they will be in complete 3D. The camera still stays in one angle though. But this time, I have more freedom and fixing future issues will be easier.

I don't really want to rush this project because I've rushed my past projects and I never liked the results. I want to do it excellently since I want to bring forth glory to our awesome God for the talents that His given me. Can't really glorify Him with a crappy fruit, can I? So yeah...

Just wait for the final product and I assure you that it will be worth waiting, watching and sharing for.

The Battle Concept Arts 2

Concept Art Update!

My plans for The Battle are still rotating between doing it in FULL 3D, which means to model everything from characters to environment into full 3-Dimensional CG elements, or 2D, which means I model them in simple 2D elements in Blender. The latter may be the one I'm going to consider the most, since it's simple and my laptop can handle it without crashing. But the other option may give me more freedom but will surely consume time. I might have a final decision by the end of the day.

This is the Stage Plan for The Battle. I like to put Background Elements and Foreground Elements because it adds Depth especially when the camera is moving around. I actually based the concept out of one of the games I played called, Limbo. The stage may vary depending on what style I'll solidly follow when I've decided today about the two options.

Height Comparison!
This will be the FINAL sizes of the characters that you'll be seeing in the short. Two of the characters will have the majority of appearances.

ANYWAYS!

Watch The Battle here: (will be posted here after upload)

That's it for updates!

The Battle Concept Arts

They're not much. But here are some concept arts for Doodle Note's upcoming 3D/2D Animation Short entitled, The Battle.

I don't have a pen tablet to create this guys so it's a challenge to create them and I have to invent some techniques that other "poor(financially)" artists would've done too. But...

ANYWAYS!

THE BATTLE CONCEPT ARTS

The Protagonist

The Antagonist

more monsters...

You might notice that I based the other monsters on the 7 deadly sins. Although it's not exactly biblical, bits and pieces of it are mentioned in the bible. I didn't have concepts for Pride and Envy, because my plans for Envy as a monster is that it's a shapeshifter, which assumes the appearance of the creature its envied with. Pride, on the other hand, is just the same with the look of the "Monster Concept Art" since its got the most leader-like look among the monsters.

I won't really reveal so much because it might be a big spoiler and could ruin the short for you viewers. Hehe.

Link to 3D/2D Animated short will be posted here (     ) once uploaded. Thanks for reading the Blogs! :D
